HELP SUPPORT THE CEREAL CITY CONCERT BAND!

We are extremely pleased to announce that the band is now under the direction of MR. ED ZENTERA!

The Cereal City Concert Band (CCCB) is an all-volunteer ensemble and a 501c(3) Tax Exempt (non-profit) corporation, consisting of approximately 35-40 musicians, ranging from the ages of 21 to 80, from the Battle Creek community and its surrounding areas.  Originally formed in 1988 as “Uncle Sam’s Band”, its purpose has always been related to community service events, from playing for military functions at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center to performing at the Longest Breakfast Table and the Hot Air Balloon Championships.

The purpose of the CCCB is to provide Battle Creek and its surrounding communities with quality band music/performances; to further the cultural growth of the community and to enhance the many ongoing activities in the Calhoun County area; to stimulate a continuing interest in instrumental music by offering post secondary school opportunities for its performing members; and to foster the adult band movement in the Battle Creek area.

If you look up the definition of “Community Band”, it states that the ensemble is “generally sponsored by the town or city in which it is located and consists of amateur performers.”  It further defines a community band as “a community-based ensemble of wind and percussion players, comprised primarily of adults who do not receive the majority of their livelihood from participation in the ensemble, which regularly holds rehearsal and performs at least one time per year.”

In other words, the band is an organization OF THE COMMUNITY, BY THE COMMUNITY, and FOR THE COMMUNITY.

That being said, there are many expenses that come with rehearsing and performing with an ensemble such as ours, including music costs, rehearsal space, insurance, and equipment just to name a few.  For non-profit community service organizations, sponsorship is the mainstay of existence.  Currently, the primary sponsors of the band are the band members themselves, who pay yearly dues for the privilege of participating in the band and for the joy of performing needed community service.  Unfortunately, our expenses are not covered by these membership dues.

We invite you to help the band play on -- there are various ways you can support us.

1. Donations.  All donations are tax deductible and the donor will be provided with a tax deductible receipt.
2. Sponsorship, Business or Individual.  The band has several levels of sponsorship.  Please see attachment for more information.
3. Advertisement.  If your business would like to advertise in our programs throughout the year, ads are economically priced at:
   1. $50 for a business card size
   2. $100 for a quarter page
   3. $200 for a half page
